Are We Destroying Ourselves?

Madeleine Innocent

Are we destroying ourselves? When you look at the actions of many, you can be forgiven for asking the question.

In the animal world, when a population of any species reaches a certain level, things start to fall apart. It’s easy to see this happen when food or water dwindles, either because there are too many, or because of natural cycles.

Sometimes male births outnumber female births, which automatically curtail population growth. Births diminish.

But there’s more to it than meets the eye.

Instability seems to emerge. Self destructive habits become common. It appears that there is a self governing level, beyond which the group members take it upon themselves to take action. A self regulating process.

After all, the Earth is a finite being. Her capacity to foster an ever growing population of any or all species is limited.

Looking at some of the statistics does make one wonder if this is happening to the human population.

Are We Destroying Ourselves With Drugs?

One in five Americans are taking anti-depressants.
One in three teenagers in Britain are taking antidepressants.

There are a few different types of anti-depressants, but they all aim to suppress your emotions. Not to cure your depression.

By suppressing your emotion, not only do the negative emotions reduce, so do the highs. If effect, you become a zombie. You’re without emotion.

Emotions and feelings help us to make decisions about what’s good for us and what isn’t. It’s part of our consciousness, our ethics.

One of the most destructive properties of antidepressants is that they can make someone immoral, or without ethics. That’s not only destructive for the recipient of the drug, but also for those around them - especially their family.

Antidepressants Are Not Without Side Effects

In addition, any drug is not without side effects. As the anti-depressants are high caliber drugs, the side effects are serious. For example, the side effects of Zoloft listed in www.drugs.com include:

- unusual bleeding
- seizures
visual changes
- confusion, memory
- weakness
- feeling unsteady
- sexual dysfunction
- manic episodes

On the same website, the side effects of Prozac, another common anti-depressant include:

- insomnia
- vision changes
- drowsiness
- weakness
- increased anxiety, trembling

- digestive disturbances
- changes in weight and appetite
- sexual dysfunction

Another factor that those taking these drugs may not know, is that they are very difficult to reduce. People can experience terrible symptoms even when they reduce these drugs under competent supervision.

Even when they do, the original problem is still there and may now be much worse.

What’s The Alternative?

With the high level of censorship now occurring across all popular search engines and social media, it can be difficult to discover good alternatives to anything.

However, what seems to be abundantly clear to any critical thinker, is that it is far better to use a therapy of health care that looks for causes. Treat a cause may take longer, but is deep healing. Treating the effect is simply a band aid.

Natural therapies as a whole try to do just that. They are, in effect, holistic, treating the whole of you, rather than a part. After all, we are whole beings.

Good homeopathic treatment never aims to suppress what your body is trying to achieve. Instead it is supportive of your body’s best efforts. The result can be an immediate feeling of the original unease lifting. Then, over time, the depression and all the associated causes and effects gradually diminish.

Are we destroying ourselves by our limited choices? The Earth has taken drastic action in the past to reduce the human population, not perhaps so much because of over-population, more perhaps because of the harm they were doing.

It seems we haven’t learned the lesson yet. We’re still harming ourselves. And those around us. On a much bigger scale now, perhaps than ever before. In many different ways. Maybe we have reached the critical point where self destruction occurs.

It doesn’t have to be this way.
