Hay fever and allergies are most common in the spring time, but can occur at any time. Hay fever is an allergic reaction of a specific kind. Normally the sufferer has some kind of head or upper respiratory symptoms, of varying degrees. It could be sneezing, streaming eyes or nose, itchy eyes or palate or any combination.

The common causes are from pollen, dust, animal fur or chemicals. In reality this problem indicates that your immune system is compromised, as you are overreacting to common environmental factors.

Conversely, reacting to the unnatural environmental factors (the chemicals) is a healthy sign, a warning sign of your body to stay away. But to cope with the increasing overload, our bodies get used to them and stop reacting. That doesn’t mean they are not a growing health problem. They are.

Other people can suffer an allergic reaction through the skin. This is quite common, especially to foods, with a rash forming around the mouth or on the hands that handled the food.

Or foods can cause a digestive issue, with gas, bloating, discomfort and diarrhoea being the common symptoms. Dairy, bread and spices are some common triggers.

Often allergies start after a vaccine.

Recently a woman accompanied her partner to his consultation with me. She soon started sneezing in my clinic. She said she suffered with hay fever at this time of the year and was also allergic to animal fur. I asked her if she would like to try a homeopathic remedy for the sneezing. She was keen to try, as her medical treatment wasn’t getting on top of the problem.

Within 10 mins, she stopped sneezing and I forgot about her problem, focussing on her partner. She wanted to take a bottle of the remedy I had prescribed for her.

When her partner returned for his follow up consultation, two weeks later, he told me that she had not needed to take much of the remedy, none of her medical treatment and was completely free of her sneezing – even around cats.

Results can be that quick, although normally it takes a little longer.

Apart from using homeopathy, what else can you do to improve your immune system so you don’t succumb to hay fever and allergies?

  • Improve your diet – don’t eat processed, fast or junk food and limit your animal protein intake
  • Make sure you get adequate exposure to the sun – natural vitamin D is far superior to anything you can purchase
  • Make quiet time just for you – switch off the external noise and the internal chatter, and just be
  • Do some form of enjoyable or useful exercise daily, preferably outside in the fresh air – my winter cardio exercise came from pulling my cart of firewood to the house!

There are both external and internal triggers to hay fever and allergies, as well as to every form of ill health, or disease. Don’t follow the herd. Follow your body’s cues, as it will always give you the right message, for you.

Natural therapies, such as homeopathy, work in accordance with what your body is trying to achieve, on an energetic level.
