Natural thyroid support can come in many different guises or forms, but the most effective will be looking at the imbalance of the thyroid gland, rather than whether it is over- or under producing.
The thyroid gland, situated in the front of the neck, is an incredibly important hormone producer. The hormones, known as T3 and T4, are used by every cell in the body, so when it isn’t working properly many areas of the body are affected, which have a knock-on effect.
Hyperthyroidism is when the gland over produces the hormones, which speeds up your metabolism, leading to an increased heart rate, faster breathing, weight loss, nervousness, moodiness, anxiety, insomnia, excess perspiration, fatigue, amongst other symptoms.
Hypothyroidism is when the gland under produces the hormones, which slows down your metabolism, leading to weight gain, fatigue, hair loss, intolerance to cold, sluggish bowels, depression, irritability, memory loss, decreased libido, abnormal menstrual cycles and more.
Medical science tends to blame every condition on a faulty body. Treatment ranges from suppressing or stimulating the production of the hormones, to replacing the hormones (with those from animals or a laboratory), to surgery or radiation.
These approaches can sound logical if you don’t think beyond the problem, the effect. But none of them address the cause, partly because medicine can rarely determine what the true cause of ill health really is.
No part of the body can function properly if you don’t supply it with the necessary ‘fuel’ or nutrients. A diet rich in nutrient deficient food (such as processed food, foods high in fat, sugar and salt, etc) might be able to keep you alive, just, but not in a healthy way.
The only way organs, glands and the body’s structure operates properly, is by ensuring it has access to the right nutrients in the right balance. This can only be obtained from real food. Synthetic supplements can never replace the value of real food, although it can help in the short term.
Apart from food, what other areas can affect the production of the thyroid hormones? As with everything in life, we are often knocked off balance by a sudden and deeply felt occurrence that we never fully recover from. Situations such as shock, fright or injury, etc. Other causes can come from long standing and unbalancing situations, such as living in fear or anger for an extended period.
We can ‘inherit’ these unresolved emotions from our parents and ancestors, offering us the opportunity to solve their problems and so draw a line under the ongoing line of ‘inherited’ diseases. This, of course, means changing the DNA. Yes, it is not fixed.
So what exactly is natural thyroid support? I do know there are many herbs and other holistic measures that can offer you this, but the area I am most familiar with is homeopathy. When good homeopathic treatment is used to undo the effects of the cause, whether yours or your ancestors, the blockage preventing your natural healing is removed, enabling your body to do what its knows how to – heal you.
Not only does your thyroid start functioning as it should again, other areas that were also affected by the cause, rebalance themselves.
Perhaps the best, and probably the most permanent, natural thyroid support comes from good homeopathic treatment. Homeopathy doesn’t treat the disease, it works by rebalancing you. Diagnosis is for medical use and has little use in homeopathy.

Thankyou Madeleine for your wholistic approach to breaking down a diagnosis that deserves proper attention, in order for the WHOLE body to function well. It reminds us that a quick fix is not supporting the whole body in dealing with an issue and homeopathy and a good homeopath, such as yourself, gives your body the best opportunity to restore balance and good health. Well done, keep up your wonderful work. We are grateful to have your input in our health and wellbeing. Sarah and Family
