Seasonal flu, which normally appears in the winter months, affects a large percentage of the population of most of the so called western countries. Therein lies a clue, as most countries which still enjoy traditional ways of living are more resilient.
So what is the clue? Well, clues really, as there is so much difference between the traditional way of living as opposed to the ‘civilised’ way, which is grossly uncivilised to my way of thinking.
Seasonal flus, and the frequency with which they occur, as well as the numbers of people adversely affected, show that the immune system of most people is poor. Very poor. This is unsurprising given the three main points about to be discussed.
Stress
Stress is one of the main reasons so many people have poor immunity. When you are stressed, especially when it is frequent and all consuming, your body has little chance to deal with anything else. Stress is one of the best ways to develop chronic and degenerative illnesses. It can lead to chronic depression. So it is imperative to get this under control.
How can you do this? Well, one of the best ways is to ‘opt out’ of the system. Not necessarily in every way or immediately. But you might be able to find ways to lower the stress. For example:
- can you work from home one day a week?
- can you narrow the gap between home and work so your travelling time is less?
- can you work outside business hours, so travelling is easier?
- is it time to change from a job you dislike to one you enjoy?
do you really need all the expensive gadgets or the latest model of car?
or perhaps
- take up meditation
- take up gardening, especially try growing your own food
- go for frequent walks in nature – parks, the countryside, the beach, the bush, forests and woodland
- learn to listen to Nature, stop and stare and LISTEN to the silence
Nutrition
Equal in importance to a stress-free life is your diet. This makes or breaks your immune system. A diet high in soft drinks, animal protein and processed or manipulated food are all either deficient in nutrition and/or acid forming. Your health relies on quality nutrition to run effectively (rather like the engine of a car). It also cannot run in an acid environment for long before succumbing to chronic disease.
A diet high in fresh produce (fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds) as well whole grain (that can be tolerated) will provide you with nutrients that enable your ‘engine’ to run efficiently. They ensure an alkaline environment, where no chronic disease can take hold. Certified organic produce is especially healthy and worth the investment.
Medical Care
This is such an important area to consider when you care about your immune system. All medical drugs and vaccines are toxic. All work by suppressing your immune system (and so the symptoms), which leads to more health problems that no one connects to the previous medication.
A far more healthy medical care system than the current one is the holistic system of homeopathy. Not only is homeopathy toxin free, it works by enhancing your immune system, by supporting your body’s best efforts at maintaining good health. So not only does the problem disappear, you feel better in other ways, too.
Not only can homeopathy help with your normal medical cares and worries, it can also help you deal with stress. Oddly, you’ll also find that you crave healthy food, instead of the usual rubbish.
Don’t just take these three important areas into consideration during the flu season or when you have seasonal flu, because you’ll probably want to keep in tip-top health all year round. Make these changes permanent in your life.
